  • Job Description: The role of the Production Assistant is highly active, with a strong focus on the blending and packaging of loose leaf tea, as well as the packaging and bottling of honey and spices. The Production Assistant collaborates closely with the Head Blender and the Operations Manager of the Production Facility to meet the facility's production requirements and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the production facility while maintaining a positive and friendly work demeanor.

    This role demands a keen eye for detail and a passion for maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Primary responsibilities encompass tea production, food safety, quality control, and assistance in managing the inventory system. This individual should possess strong organizational and efficiency skills and should have an affinity for working with numbers, as they will frequently encounter and analyze them during their production tasks.

    Roles & Responsibilities: The Production Assistant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production facility. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Production Tasks:
    • Tea: Expertly blend and package loose leaf tea, including labeling and boxing/tinning.
    • Oils: Efficiently package oils in bottles and apply labels.
    • Honey: Skillfully package honey, both labeling and bottling.
    • Spices: Accurately package spices with labels and tins.
    • Order Fulfillment:
    • Handle order fulfillment for wholesale, online, and retail store customers.
    • Support the Head Blender with creating the loose leaf tea blending schedule to meet store orders and stock requirements.
    • Facility Organization:
    • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene within the production areas.
    • Organize and maintain the production facility.
    • Inventory Management:
    • Collaborate with the supervisor to ensure adequate inventory of packaging materials, cleaning supplies, and office essentials.
    • Organize raw materials and finished goods in the inventory.
    • Manage the inventory system, including pricing, cost analysis, removing old items, and assisting with quarterly inventory.
    • Receive and input inventory during work shifts, cross-checking with invoices to ensure all orders are complete.
    • Adherence of Standards:
    • Strictly adhere to all regulatory compliance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required for job functions.
    • Uphold all OBTC (Company Name) standards and take the initiative on projects.
    • Keeps a positive working environment
    • Participate in staff meetings
    • Food Safety & Quality Control:
    • Perform quality control checks on raw materials and finished goods.
    • Strictly follow all food safety rules during production.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Capacity to lift 50 lbs. and work on feet for extended periods.
    • Proficiency in using relevant job-related equipment and software.
    • Proficiency in basic math skills,
    • including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and percentages.
    • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Stamina to stand for extended periods.
    • Ability to understand and execute tasks accurately and efficiently.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Prior experience in a similar role is a plus.

    Additional Comments: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, comprehend, and execute written instructions in English. The employee will be required to use visual, auditory, and touch senses. The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers, handle tools and controls; use a standard scanner, keyboard, printer, and mouse; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, climb, and balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move no less than 50 pounds without assistance.

    Work Environment: The work environment for this position encompasses the typical characteristics of a warehouse and production facility. Employees will encounter these conditions while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

    • The role involves regular physical activity in a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise levels and ambient temperatures between 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Some tasks may occur outdoors throughout the year but are limited.
