Production Control Director manages the overall strategic and tactical production control planning, scheduling, flow of materials, and monitoring to achieve goals and objectives for delivery dates, output quality, volume, cost, and optimization. Oversees scheduling and the development of methods to allocate and control resources and materials effectively. Being a Production Control Director establishes monitoring tools and processes to identify and plan for problems with waste, inefficiencies, and inventory in production operations. Recommends improvements to production technology and processes. Additionally, Production Control Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective planning methodologies and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Production Control Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Production Control Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • Job Summary:

    This position reports to the Assembly Supervisor in our Manufacturing Modules and Test Department and the responsibilities will include developing on-the-job training checklists and content with subject matter experts and delivering training related to assembly operations, assembly-support processes, computer applications, Quality procedures and Lean Manufacturing Principles, creating course materials, assessing the effectiveness of training programs and participating in continuous improvement projects. 

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop on-the-job training checklists and training content with subject matter experts for the assembly operations, including: 1) cable assemblies, 2) soldering (including fine pitch and micro soldering), 3) PCB assemblies (electronic and mechanical), 4) Surface Mount Technology machines and 5) Selective Solder machines.
    • Develop on-the-job training checklists and training content with subject matter experts for the assembly-support processes, including: 1) Bill of Materials, 2) production travelers, 3) production prints and 4) Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Develop on-the-job training checklists and training content for the various computer applications, including: 1) Infor (company ERP system), 2) Factory Track and 3) CentrallyHR.
    • Coordinate and deliver training programs to team members.   
    • In conjunction with the Quality Department, develop, coordinate and/or deliver Quality procedures training, including MRR’s, etc. Assist with delivering and/or coordinating IPC J-STD training.
    • Assist with developing, coordinating and delivering Lean Manufacturing Principles training to team members.   
    • Create course materials that will achieve the desired learning outcomes. The modes of delivery may include classroom, on-demand videos and live demonstrations.  The materials may include PowerPoint presentations, class exercises, student handouts, tests and course assessments.
    • Provide training schedules, coordinate enrollments and record attendance.
    • Assess training effectiveness by collecting and analyzing key operations metrics, facilitating focus groups and gathering feedback from the relevant stakeholders.
    • Participate in continuous improvement projects and developing and delivering relevant training as needed to support those projects.
    • Provide feedback to the management and the Production Group Leads regarding any barriers or issues related to the training programs.
    • Perform assembly operations as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Two years of experience with related assembly operations.
    • PCB soldering experience and demonstrated knowledge and application of soldering best practices.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Strong planning and organizing skills.
    • Ability to read and understand production prints and work instructions.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate clearly with various groups, individuals, or work teams.
    • Ability to recognize problems and recommend viable solutions.
    • Proficient computer skills.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Five years of experience with relevant electronic assembly operations.
    • Knowledge of IPC J-STD and IPC-A-610 standards and/or certification in either.
    • Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles and tools.
    • Experience researching, designing, developing and delivering training courses in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience creating course materials using print and digital formats.
    • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook e-mail.

    • Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/or move material weighing up to 60 pounds, 0 - 33 % of time.
    • May be exposed to moderate - high noise levels for short amounts of time. Noise levels average around 60 decibels and intermittently reach 90 decibels when working near large machinery (hearing protection required).
