Product Development Manager manages the staff, resources, and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Incorporates research and concept development projects and capabilities with market analysis, industry intelligence, and customer monitoring to support product roadmaps and innovate new products, enhancements, and redesigns. Being a Product Development Manager coordinates with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products meet development targets and support the organization's financial goals. Develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Additionally, Product Development Manager typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Product Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Product Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Purpose:  The Manager in Development (MID) position is expected to be a short-term transitional role that provides both work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MIDs to be promoted into management positions. 

    Candidate for this position is based in Halifax, NS

    Major Responsibilities:  

    • Work closely with management staff to develop skill set.
    • Take part in rotations with multiple departments, including but not limited to: dispatch, road supervision, safety, finance, and HR.
    • Develop partnerships with location and corporate staff.
    • Showcase your strong management foundation and knowledge of the business.
    • Perform any related duties that are required or assigned.
    • Learning Assignments:

      4) Maintenance
      5) Security
      6) Sales
      7) Human Resource
      8) Labor Relations
      9) Legal
       

    Minimum Education & Certifications Required:

    • High School Diploma/GED 
    • Bachelors degree is required
    • 3-4 years of Transportation/Logistics experience is an asset
    • 1-2 years of supervisory experience

    Minimum Skills and Requirements:

    • 1 -2 years of previous experience as a retail manager or supervisor
    • Post-Secondary education; Degree and/or Diploma with relevant experience 
    • Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including morning, night and weekend shifts, and overtime as needed
    • Active Learning – Quickly process new information, knowledge, and experiences, regularly capitalizing
      on learning opportunities, and applying new information.
    • Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    • Attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Valid Driver’s License


    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

    • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person, written and/or by telephone.
