Product Development Director plans and directs the resources and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Establishes research and concept development projects and capabilities to innovate new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. Being a Product Development Director conducts market analysis and interacts with customers and prospects to identify new markets, articulate the value proposition, define requirements, and lead the development of a product roadmap. Oversees new product development and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and manufacturing, to ensure that new and existing products support the organization's financial goals. Additionally, Product Development Director develops teams with the knowledge and expertise to fulfill product development objectives. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Product Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Product Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Product Development Manager – Adjacencies & Innovation is primarily responsible for working with the Offices of Strategy, Growth, and the CEO to create product road mapping, develop new products and offerings for our blue-chip customers, and ultimately own the full product development lifecycle from concept to evaluation of the product’s success in the market.  The experienced individual in this role will be an energetic, collaborative thought leader who is motivated to create new business plans, educate the sales team on new offerings, collaborate with marketing, strategic pricing, and other departments to bring the product to market, all with the success of our customers in mind.  This will require partnering closely with the COO and other operating leaders to ensure that the services being developed are ready for execution in the field.  This role will be responsible for a large portion of Stratus’ top line revenue goals and a successful candidate is expected to have high intrinsic values that allow the candidate to utilize their commercial savvy and business acumen to push Stratus forward by surprising and delighting our customers.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate closely with sales to understand the voice of the customer and needs we can meet through new adjacent offerings (products or services)
    • Demonstrate continuous learning and curiosity to understand the competitive landscape, trends, and future needs of our customer base and new customers to bring into our funnel.
    • Execute Product Lifecycle Management by working in conjunction with sales & customer success, marketing, engineering, finance, and operations.
    • Deliver new product plans including but not limited to:
      • Clearly defined new product or service
      • Sales forecast based on market data and projected customer demand
      • Partner with CFO and Controller to develop a P&L with revenue and margin targets forecasted in the short and long-term with milestone dates
      • Operational plan built in partnership with the COO and division leaders
      • Strategic direction for desired marketing materials and product launch strategy
      • Identified risks with plans to mitigate
    • Partner closely with the Office of Strategy and the COO to determine how to enable execution of new service offerings and prepare for launch
    • Provide marketing with strategic direction that translates into a solid foundation for a comprehensive product launch; reaching the customer wherever they want to be met in an omnichannel environment
    • Establish executive presence with the Executive Management and Strategy teams to present new product strategies and opportunities
    • Profit and Loss responsibility for the product line to meet revenue and margin objectives
    • Develop a long-term product strategy and roadmap
    • Analyzes and compares competitor’s product lines and services in relation to the current offerings of Stratus. Understand the industry trends as well as projected growth of the market and determine the share of wallet that Stratus should hold.  Focus on growth of wallet share within the current customer base as well as attracting new customers.
    • Develop a multigenerational product plan focused on new technologies, industry trends, and customer solutions

    Qualifications
