    As our BIM Manager, you will work on-site at our Grand Rapids office. The BIM Manager reports to executive management. The BIM Manager oversees the development and implementation of Building Information Modeling services at Paradigm Design including research, standards development, training and support.  This position will also support Architectural Coordinators and Project Managers to deliver building design and construction documents.


    Essential Duties:


    • Software
      • Manage software products including but not limited to incorporating new version releases and customization of the product
      • Manage the implementation of supporting software for BIM
      • Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies
      • Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit Architecture and BIM
      • Stay informed on other BIM related software and how they work with Revit
      • Support of related BIM software

     

    • Standards
      • Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement
      • Maintenance of the software Template files to assure standards
      • Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions
      • Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards of all shop drawings produced
      • Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow process standards
      • Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of Revit users to ensure BIM standards are maintained in the creation of the Architectural Revit model
    • Management:
      • Create written technology evaluations and budgets for future technology adoptions that aligns with the corporate goals
      • Chair the company's BIM committee
      • Report on the company's current and projected state in regards to BIM implementation
      • Create Upgrade and Deployment strategies for the BIM implementation effort


    • Support:
      • Provide hardware and network support as it relates to BIM production
      • Troubleshoot problems
      • Liaison with software developer support staff and other support channels.


    • Training:
      • Internal Training: Provide Revit Fundamental and Intermediate training to architectural and engineering staff
      • Conduct internal continuing education Revit Architecture training sessions
      • Provide technical orientation to New Hires regarding BIM tools and Paradigm Standards
      • Test new hires skills in BIM
      • Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use and training
      • Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM; bringing back learning and disseminating the information to appropriate teams
    • Project Interface:
      • Support project standards coordination with customers
      • Assist on project work - modeling and detailing
      • Assist project teams in BIM project setup
      • Create Revit families in response to project need
      • Help resolve BIM design issues
      • Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team
      • Coordinate needed hardware upgrades with IT
    • Liaison for BIM process with:
      • Future planning for potential uses of BIM
      • Sustainable Design
      • Planning
      • 3D Renderings
      • Facilities Management
      • Cost Estimating
      • Specification Management
      • Integrated Project Delivery
      • Digital Prototyping and Digital Fabrication
      • Modularization


    • Technician Duties
      • Use of architectural design software to prepare architectural and design documents under supervision of Project Coordinator or Project Manager from rough sketches or from general architectural and design information (verbal instructions and notes).
      • Drafting detailed dimensional drawings such as those needed for industrial, commercial, institutional, and government projects and can complete simple calculations with specific instructions.
      • Translating mark-ups into drawings and can analyze for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting to Project Coordinator or Project Manager for review.


    • Observing and following Paradigm Design Safety Program.
    • Observing and following Paradigm Design vision, mission, and core values.
    • Duties of this position must be performed on-site at the Paradigm office or at the work site of a customer, client, or construction site.
    • Ability to meet physical demands and perform the essential job functions at Paradigm’s office and client work locations.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • 5 year's production experience in design, drafting or engineering
    • Autodesk Revit Architecture Certified Professional desired



    SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

    • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of current BIM versions with emphasis on project sheet setup.
    • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of current BIM versions and working with multiple discipline on multiple design software platforms.
    • Knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks,
    • Knowledge of Revit Add-Ons such as Ideate Software Sticky and Revolution Design Keynote Manger.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Must possess a professional appearance and demeanor.
    • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
    • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance
    • Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.
    • Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.
    • Must be a self-starter and possess the drive to pursue continued education on BIM
    • Possess the ability to work well as part of a team and independently

    • Physical Demands:
      • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time and be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
      • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer as well as have the ability to use hands for handling, operating objects or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
      • At construction sites, ability to ambulate over ground that is under construction and ability to obey required safety procedures is required.
      • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to compare and distinguish material grades and administrative data.
      • Occasionally will move/lift objects up to 25 pounds.
