Product Design Manager manages and coordinates design, development, and enhancement of new and existing products/product lines. Evaluates and ensures design feasibility and design optimization. Being a Product Design Manager ensures team meets project milestones and completes projects within established timeline. Evaluates issues, provides resolution, and communicates to management. Additionally, Product Design Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Product Design Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Product Design Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a global company seeking an experienced Product and Sales Applications Engineer to join their team. This position has the option to work out of their facility in Hillsboro or McMinnville, Oregon, depending on the employee’s preference. This company has designed and manufactured transition metal carbides, thermionic, and field electron sources for over two decades. It has led in field emission research dating to the post-WWII era.

    • PTO:  Tiered paid time off earned on each paid hour (excludes overtime). 9 holidays, including 1 day of your choosing. Up to 40 hours for Jury Duty.
    • Bonus:  Discretionary bonuses that are typically paid out annually based on prior year company performance.
    • Salary:  $130,000 to $150,000, DOE

    Primary Function:
    The Product & Sales Applications Engineer is responsible for overseeing the sales team, managing customer accounts, creating quotes, driving revenue budgeting, and forecasting for the next year. This is not an IT position

    Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
    • Management of client sales including but not limited to, identifying the opportunity, defining customer requirements, developing and presenting quotes, closing the sale.
    • Collaborate with clients through a strategic and consultative sales approach to understand both their current business needs and an accurate forecast of their needs for the following year.
    • Prepare and track blanket orders for clients.
    • Acquire and report on industry knowledge related to general trends, emerging technologies, markets, and competitors.
    • Oversee capacity planning and work with supply chain to maintain product availability, taking lead times into account.
    • Work with production to determine lead times for quotes and forecasting.
    • Work with R&D Department to determine how to meet client needs.
    • Prepare and administer budget for the year, as well as capacity planning and forecasting for the following year.
    • Compiles data to maintain and send required reports that comply with policies of parent company and federal requirements.
    • Direct management of a small sales team with growth potential in future.
    • Various tasks as needed to support the growth and success of a small company.

    Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • 2 years of experience in a managerial capacity required.
    • Experience working within the microscopy, electroanalysis, x-ray, or equivalent fields required.
    • Account manager or supply chain experience strongly preferred.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
    • Detail oriented with a focus on quality, execution, and follow through.
    • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
    • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.
    • Pass a post-offer background verification.

    Work Environment:
    OFFICE: Standard office environment with normal office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.
