Insurance Follow up Manager Job Description: The Insurance Follow-Up Manager manages and oversees all activities of Insurance Follow-Up for multiple client’s, hospital based and physician-based billing. This position manages and monitors Associates to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures for effective, efficient, and timely quality of work.

Position Responsibilities:

• Manages and oversees the follow-up of all patient service revenue
• Contributes to development of an operating plan.
• Works with department Director in setting goals.
• Responsible for hiring, developing, coaching, discipline, and performance evaluations.
• Maintains and improves the department workflow and utilization of personnel to maximize individual and group productivity, competence, and effectiveness.
• Provides support and coaching to assist in identifying denial trends with a focus on prevention.
• Monitors system dashboards and reporting to identify areas of focus and creates structured plans to address.
• Monitors write-offs and ensures all efforts to obtain reimbursement have been exhausted and proper approvals are obtained.
• Maintains knowledge of government and private payer regulations and contracts.
• Maintains effective communication with insurance companies, managed care contractors, and governmental payers.
  Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: 

• Be proficient in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word and Excel. 
• Detail oriented and able to research accounts to bring it to an appropriate account resolution. 
• Knowledgeable of Medical Terminology and in depth understanding of insurance processes.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited information is provided 

Preferred Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•  A medical background with experience in patient financial services is preferred. 
• Previous insurance billing and/or follow up preferred.
• Proficiency with hospital accounts receivable software required.
