  • Job Summary: Under broad supervision, provide advanced-level technical support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic.

     

    Job Responsibilities: Under broad supervision, performs analysis in a specified area of motor vehicle operations such as equipment specification, fleet purchasing, preventive maintenance, automotive warehouse operations or cannibalization. Performs audits and inspections of facilities, vehicles and equipment. Develops recommendations for quality improvement in a specified area of motor vehicle operations.

               

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.

     

    STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:      

    ·         High School diploma OR GED

    AND

    ·         One year of experience at position equivalent.

     

    AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   

    ·         Demonstrated knowledge of diagnostic tools for gas and diesel engines

    ·         Commercial Driver’s license/ Class B

    ·         Demonstrated knowledge to read and write preventative maintenance manuals, procedures, guidelines, and reports.  

    ·          Demonstrated knowledge to teach preventative maintenance methods in a classroom setting and use knowledge gained from previous experience as a learning tool.

    ·          Mechanical knowledge and repair experience with gas and diesel-powered engines, manual and automatic transmissions, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems, commercial motor vehicles, heavy equipment, tractor-mowers, etc.

    ·          Basic understanding of standard and metric systems.  

    ·         Knowledge of machinery and tools needed to inspect and evaluate vehicles, equipment, and maintenance facilities.

    ·         Ability to bend, lift, climb, and maneuver one's position while demonstrating preventative maintenance activities and pm inspections.

     

    AGENCY PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:  

    ·          Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision, set own schedule and training, manage time efficiently, and set and define personal goals.  

    ·         Demonstrated experience in performing fundamental mathematical computations. 

    ·         Demonstrated experience in using selected rules, principles, relationships, and existing information to determine the best solution to problems.  

    ·         Demonstrated ability to properly manage resources needed for the position.  

    ·         Demonstrated ability to work well with others.  

    ·         Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive view of oneself and the Department.                

    ·         Demonstrated ability to gather, organize, and record data relating to preventative maintenance.  

    ·         Demonstrated ability to find innovative ways to solve problems relating to motor vehicle operations.  

    ·         Demonstrated ability to interact with others to influence, motivate, and challenge them.  

    ·         Comprehension of the organizational structure of the Department and the relationships among offices. 

    ·         Capability of arriving at conclusions, decisions, and/or agreements with others based on facts, rules, or principles. 

    ·         Demonstrated ability to adapt to new, different, or changing requirements.  

    ·          Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance and customer service to ensure compliance with safety standards and preventative maintenance guidelines.

    Good Employment Standing:

    In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing.  Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion).  In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation.  Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors.  Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
