A NIH-funded postdoctoral research fellow in Pulmonary and Vascular Biology and Disease is available in Dr. Hongwei Yao’s laboratory with Ocean State Research Institute at the VA Providence Healthcare System, and Department of Mol Biol, Cell Biol & Biochem at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island.
The Yao laboratory focuses on metabolic reprogramming and senescence during normal lung development, neonatal bronchopulmonary dysplasia, adult chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and associated pulmonary hypertension using human tissues, small and larger animal models, and cell culture. The laboratory pursues multidisciplinary approaches, including metabolomics, metabolic flux assay, single cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, genetic lineage tracing, as well as traditional molecular and physiopathological methods. Qualifications Candidate should have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field related to the lab research program, which includes biology, pharmacology, pathology, etc. Research fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship. Candidates are expected to have intensive experience in small animal procedures, cell culture, and/or molecular biology. Candidates with solid background in metabolism, aging/senescence, and lung biology are particularly encouraged to apply. Strong time management, communication and writing skills, and the ability to work both independently and as a part of a team are required.
