Process Engineering Manager manages a team responsible for the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, or plants. Responsible for operational excellence via efficient plant design. Being a Process Engineering Manager ensures continuous improvement in process, cost, quality and production. Manages all engineering projects and resolves engineering problems. Additionally, Process Engineering Manager requires a bachelor's degree of engineering. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Process Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity.     44 miles southeast of Little Rock, Pine Bluff is the tenth-largest city in the state of Arkansas and the county seat of Jefferson County.     The Pactiv Evergreen Pine Bluff Paper Mill is located in Pine Bluff, Arkanas, less than an hour from Little Rock in scenic southeast Arkansas. It is the largest industrial employer in Jefferson County. Opened in 1958, Pine Bluff is the largest facility within Evergreen Packaging and is home to the world's largest gable-top liquid packaging paperboard machine. In addition to producing paperboard for cartons, the facility also produces coated paper for magazines.

    Responsibilities

    Job Description:

    The Ideal candidate will Manage and lead the hourly maintenance employees in the department to meet the safety, environmental, maintenance downtime, quality and cost goals of the Power department. This position is also responsible for labor relations, maintenance downtime, productivity,

    quality, cost improvement, and performance measurements of the Maintenance department.

     

    Job Specific Responsibilities:

    · Manage, direct, and coordinate the activities of hourly maintenance employees engaged in precision maintenance activities to meet equipment reliability needs in the Maintenance Department.

    · Manage spare inventories and Preventative Maintenance work systems.

    · Coordinate with Operational Area Managers, OMCs, and Planners in preparing daily, weekly and outage work schedules.

    · Ensure all hourly employees are trained, knowledgeable and adhere to mill safety policies and regulations.

    · Coordinate with other departments to achieve effective outage execution.

    · Responsible for effective employee relations and provide coaching/training for the hourly employees. Resolve personal and contractual issues through problem resolution or the union contract language.

    · Insure that proper training and tools are available for the hourly employees. Provide technical assistance as needed.

    Qualifications

    Essential/Required Qualifications:

    · Must have a technical 4-year degree or equivalent experience.

    · Six to eight years of industrial experience.

    · Must be a good trainer and coach of hourly employees.

    · Understand Industry Standard practices for Preventive Maintenance as related to electrical and instrumentation equipment.

    · Prior work experience in supervising an hourly work force in a union work environment.

     

    Desired Qualifications:

    · Electrical or Instrument Engineering degree.

    · Industrial work experience with Pulp & Paper Mill equipment maintenance.

    · General maintenance and support experience.

    · Six to eight years of industrial experience in Supervision and Troubleshooting experience.

    Demonstrates excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Clear expression of ideas in writing and in good grammatical form. Has the ability to actively listen and provide feedback to others.

     

    Conflict Resolution:

    Ability to resolve conflicts/disagreements in such a way to promote a win-win situation with the parties involved. Understands that based on the variety of experiences and values of the work group and work group members, differences will arise. An advisor is very sensitive to the feelings of others as resolutions are collectively developed.

     

    Leadership:

    Possesses a genuine intent to foster the learning and development of work group members while promoting the creation of a high performance team. Able to lead work group toward an objective or goal while encouraging and empowering the work group to make decisions regarding flow of work through specified area. Understands one’s influence on the work group, and provides direction to work group to insure requirements are consistently met for the work area/facility. Motivates work group towards goal achievement by insuring that work group understands how their work fits into the entire production flow of the facility and by providing continuous feedback.

     

    Technical:

    Demonstrates an understanding of the order fulfillment process, facility policies and procedures, and intermediate PC skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Mail.

     

    Coaching/Counseling:

    Develops a positive working environment promoting open and honest communications and trust among work group members. Understands in order to provide continuous feedback to work group members, specific behaviors must be described in detail. Listen with the intent to understand the situation, shows empathy, and can express feelings in a very professional manner without offending work group members. Ensures production standards and policies are adhered to and counsels work group members accordingly should deviations exist. Partners with union leadership to work through employee issues.

     

    Problem Solving:

    Ability to understand a situation by breaking it apart into smaller pieces, organizing parts of problem in a systematic way, making systematic comparisons of different aspects or features, setting priorities on a rational basis, identifying time sequences, and casual relationships or other relationships, in order to generate solutions. Trains and leads work group in problem solving activities.

     

    Change Orientation:

    Ability to adapt to and work in a variety of situations to support the organizational goals. Appreciates new and different perspectives and has the willingness to align one’s own behavior with the needs, priorities, and goals of Evergreen Packaging.

     

    Planning:

    Ability to effectively forecast future production/operational demands and to insure a plan of action is developed to support the attainment of organizational goals. Involves assessing capabilities, identifying resources, setting and prioritizing objectives, and determining critical paths. Ensures resources are available for work group to produce on-time, quality work.
