Process Engineering Manager manages a team responsible for the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, or plants. Responsible for operational excellence via efficient plant design. Being a Process Engineering Manager ensures continuous improvement in process, cost, quality and production. Manages all engineering projects and resolves engineering problems. Additionally, Process Engineering Manager requires a bachelor's degree of engineering. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Process Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Discovering your exciting role
    Oversee and direct engineering and design staff responsible for the design of ultrapure gas/fluid distribution and mixing systems, as well as specialized ampoules. Responsibilities include oversight of custom fabrication projects utilizing chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering principles, flow analysis, and material science.

    Provide specific direction to designers and engineers through direct supervision, coaching, training, and assistance in engineering tasks as necessary. Set performance goals and manage complex work schedules for production of system designs. Work collaboratively with other departments in the overall leadership of the company.

    • Oversee and direct engineers and design staff.
    • Manage and track design schedule to meet overall project critical path.
    • Direct component selection for system designs.
    • Establish, enforce, and maintain accountability for adherence to quality standards and training, development of qualified / talented workforce.
    • Develop and maintain engineering procedures including document control, change management, revision control, and design review.
    • Develop team through principles of Servant Leadership and maintain engineering and design standards.
    • Maintain accountability for adherence to safety standards in performance and design.
    • Continually improve employee productivity and performance.
    • Work with other team members to develop system procedures and documentation associated with chemical systems.
    • Participate with NSI team in the creation and implementation of business processes.
    • Work with the NSI team on system quoting and proposals.
    • Facilitate communication between Engineering, Production, and other departments.
    • Ensure employee adherence to company policies and procedures.
    • Review equipment technology and process methods to take advantage of efficiency opportunities.
    • Assist in recruiting, developing, and maintaining an effective engineering staff.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to direct report staff.
    • Carry out performance management and disciplinary action, as needed.
    • Maintain a fair, productive, team-oriented environment.
    • Track attendance, approve time-off requests, and review and approve timecards weekly.
    • Interact professionally with customers and respond to customer needs requests in a timely and honest manner.
    • Adhere and execute to the defined project budgets.

    Show your expertise
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing engineering staff.
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with chemical and vapor distribution systems.

    The work environment characteristics include periodic noise increases when in the Manufacturing facility, although the office environment is usually quiet and respectful. Safety glasses and other required safety protection should be worn when out in the manufacturing facility, which may vary depending on the area you are working/visiting.
