    The Public Works Project Manager will lead and direct a team to deliver projects for capital improvement plans, bonds, urban renewal agencies including the state, local municipalities, counties, and utility districts. In this role people will look to you for guidance and leadership on your team, outside of your department, and within your industry.     Primary Responsibilities:

    • Work with company principals and multi-disciplinary teams to initiate, plan, execute, and monitor the organization’s public services projects.
    • Establish professional relationships and be involved in all phases with marketing, planning, design, production meetings, and construction of capital projects.
    • Perform review of engineering plans and project submittals.
    • Quality assurance reviews for adherence to development codes, engineering standards, value engineering opportunities, and other regulations and requirements.
    • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in public service project delivery.
    • Provide information to contractors, engineers, developers, and public as needed.
    • Work with company principals and multi-disciplinary teams to determine talent strategy as it relates to talent needs for future and current projects.
    • Perform other duties as opportunities and needs arise.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the daily workflow of the department and coordinate work for team from conception to completion of construction.
    • Manage and lead staff to direct resources effectively and in a positive manner.
    • Write employee performance appraisals and conduct meetings with employees to discuss content, goals, and training.
    • Keep informed of production challenges, programs, and resources and work to resolve issues of conflicting personalities, deadlines, and project needs.
    • Work with company principals and participate in interviews for new employees, recommend employee selection, and direct training for new staff in the department.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • A solid understanding of public work projects, policies, procedures and standards.
    • Knowledge of local and state regulations and codes.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
    • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
    • Demonstrated hands-on knowledge and experience of design principals with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required.

     Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil preferred) from an accredited four-year college or university.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Civil Engineer, with an emphasis on transportation, public infrastructure, drainage, utilities, and/or civic projects for municipal and private clients.
    • Professional Engineers license with ability to acquire reciprocity in Oregon quickly.
    • Proven portfolio of built projects that demonstrate successful project management, potential for long-term business relationship, implementation, and delivery.
