Process Engineer develops and optimizes continuous production and manufacturing processes to achieve the output, quality, and cost goals of the organization. Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes. Being a Process Engineer identifies process bottlenecks and devises solutions to resolve. Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy and raw materials. Additionally, Process Engineer requires a bachelor's degree of engineering. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Process Engineer works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. To be a Process Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     1. Responsibilities: 

     

    • Create, configure and develop industrial processes.
    • Create and manage process documentation and operating instructions.
    • Perform root cause and analysis in the operations covering various functions and topics.
    • Develop and implement metrics to monitor and improve performance of processes.
    • Track performance and analyze the completion of key goals.
    • Perform facility planning and maintenance responsibilities, process improvements, production planning and inventory audits.
    • Facilitate the application of lean principles.  Apply lean tools, including standardized work, 5S visual factory, total productive maintenance, pull systems, value stream mapping, etc.
    • Develop site / process layouts and / or improve existing layouts to maximize efficient use of space, equipment, and labor.
    • Establish and implement work standards through time studies and other accepted methods.
    • Assist the PM and Engineering Manager to make informed decisions related to the purchase of equipment, including forklifts, tooling, lift assists, generators, compressed air systems, racking, sweepers/ scrubbers, compactors, and miscellaneous items pertaining to specific projects.
    • Recommend new and / or improve existing error proofing methods and technology.
    • Obtain quotes, perform cost analysis, and manage contractors working on various installations and facility construction.
    • Help to track the project capital budget and report ongoing status to Project Manager. 
    • Follow Company policies related to health and safety and environmental procedures.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

    1. What contacts are required with other organizations?
    • Receives direction and guidance from Engineering Manager or Director.
    • Works closely with all other functions to assure improvement goals are achieved.

    • Works somewhat unsupervised and is expected to create and follow project timelines and provide regular status updates and daily activity logs.

     

    1. Knowledge Required: (Education, experience, special skills, certification)
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar relevant field.
    • 3 to 5 years of process engineering experience.
    • Preferred experience working in FTZ’s with customs brokers and CBP.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Strong operational, time management, analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, AutoCad and other engineering software tools are required; BLG Logistics Business Systems, Körber, SAP, other WMS are a plus.
    • Able to initiate and execute lean processes in material handling, inventory control and light manufacturing.

     

     

    1. Problem Solving Required: 
    • Expected to continuously upgrade their knowledge of new technologies applicable to the logistics industry as well as the most current operating “best practices” within BLG logistics.
