Private Banking Director oversees all aspects of private banking activities that service the needs of high net-worth clients. Ensures that client relationships are developed and expanded and that the resources of the entire organization are properly leveraged to provide efficient and personalized service delivery. Being a Private Banking Director develops strategies and objectives that include deposit and loan volume goals and effective marketing plans. Implements operations, processes, and team development programs that enhance the achievement of private banking objectives. Additionally, Private Banking Director may act as a consultant for high-value or complex credit decisions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Private Banking Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Private Banking Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Summary/objective 

    The Director of Private Client Services oversees the private client services team and provides administrative support to one or more Financial Advisors or Partners of the firm. Responsibilities include opening new accounts, creating households in the CRM, cashiering, ACH transfers, assisting clients, researching client problems, maintaining account records, and preparing client communication. Additional duties include scheduling client meetings, maintaining outlook calendars, and assisting with travel schedules. 

    An essential function of the role will be to provide leadership to the Client Service team. 

     

    Essential Functions

    Performs all aspects of the Senior Client Associate role plus: 

    • Leads and manages Client Service team in Westport, CT location. 
    • Clearly communicates performance expectations to members of their team. 
    • Controls work distribution between Client Associates.  
    • Coordinates and approves PTO and other leave within their department and ensures sufficient coverage is in place. 
    • Provides continuous feedback and coaching to team members regularly.  
    • Responsible for staff development, leadership coaching and associate engagement.  
    • Responsible for new hire training.   
    • Educates all Client Service team members when there are changes in processes.   
    • Participates in completion of year-end reviews for members of their team. 
    • Assists clients. 
    • Researches client issues. 
    • Prepares and processes client documentation. 
    • Opens new client accounts and creates households. 
    • Maintains client records. 
    • Executes cashiering, money movement, and ACH requests. 
    • Meets with clients and assists with paperwork. 
    • Oversees and meets with Client Service team to review new private client initiatives. 
    • Prepares client communication. 
    • Answers incoming client calls. 
    • Oversees general office management. 
    • Oversees the ordering of office supplies. 
    • Ensures Client Service team maintains look and tidiness of office space. 
    • Participates in new initiatives and projects.

    Work Environment  

    This job operates in a professional office setting. This position uses common office apparatus such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    This job requires the employee to regularly talk and hear. Additionally, the employee is often required to stand; walk; use wrists, hands, and fingers to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. From time to time, light lifting may be required for routine office tasks such as client mailings, refilling copiers, etc.  

     

    Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work 

    This is a full-time position where the employee is expected to be in the office Monday through Friday from 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m.

    Travel is not predicted for this job. 

     

    Community and Volunteer Activities  
    The GYL team routinely supports a number of charitable organizations and activities. It is strongly encouraged that the Director of Private Client Services is willing to occasionally, as their schedule permits, participate in activities with other team members.  

     

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications 

    • 10-15 years of operational experience within the financial services industry. 
    • Bachelor’s degree required. 
    • Must have strong organizational and prioritization skills. 
    • Ability to work independently to research and resolve client issues. 
    • Must have an understanding of appropriate paperwork and procedures necessary to process transactions. 
    • Client services oriented. 
    • Strong attention to detail. 
    • Must be computer literate and proficient with Windows, Word, and Excel. 
    • Fidelity or Schwab experience would be preferred. 
    • Ability to multi-task. 
    • Work both independently and within a team. 
    • Ability to problem solve and determine the most effective method of problem resolutions while complying with corporate and regulatory procedures.  

     

    Required Education and Experience 

    • Education: Required – Bachelor’s degree; Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field. 
    • Licenses: Required- Series 63/65 or 66. 
    • Work Experience: Preferred – Worked with or in an RIA and has experience with Fidelity and its systems. 
    • Years of Experience: Required – 10 to 15 years of experience.
