To be a Privacy Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Global Privacy Office is responsible for the identification, articulation and management of privacy risks across our businesses in support of business strategies. We deliver this through a combination of day-to-day privacy advice, guidance and support to the businesses and the implementation of a successful Global Privacy Program comprising varying privacy related projects of different sizes and complexity and across singular and multiple jurisdictions, designed to manage and reduce privacy risk exposure to an acceptable level.

    The Global Privacy Program comprises foundational projects to set the team up for ongoing success, tactical projects to put short-term remediation efforts in place and strategic projects, designed to be long term solutions to reduce privacy risk exposure in a particular area. On an annual basis, we prioritize the Program activities to address the current business strategies, reduce our highest privacy risk exposures and deliver a more coordinated and efficient global approach to privacy.

    Projects will include, but not be limited to, the identification and implementation of response to emerging and amendments to global privacy and cybersecurity laws, implementing and improving processes, delivering cost and operational efficiency, supporting complex data incidents and cross privacy and security initiatives. The projects will have a mix of people, process and technology and will provide the breadth and autonomy to enable the Project manager to build an effective Global network to deliver results.

    This role reports directly to the Global Privacy Program Manager and will support the Global Privacy Office on varying Privacy Program Projects and Gallagher more generally on other projects. The role is integral to deliver lasting change that meets our business objectives, strategy, reduces our risk exposure, and does so in a manner that provides measurable benefit.

    Day to day specifics of the role will rely on strong Project Management skills to support the scoping, planning and management of the delivery of assigned initiatives establishing the project structure, roles and teams; developing and maintaining plans; identifying and managing risks; and monitoring and reporting progress. Prefer applicants who have demonstrable experience leading complex projects with tight timeframes and, that span different divisions. Experience in data privacy and protection is also preferred.


    What You'll Do:
    • Managing the inception and initiation of multiple projects in accordance with Change Management Framework, defining project approaches, resource requirements and estimating project delivery timelines and cost
    • Defining and agreeing gaining consensus around project scope, outputs, timescale, quality, cost and benefits to ensure business requirements can be articulated, understood and agreed to
    • Defining, establishing and managing project structure, roles and teams to ensure efficient and effective project delivery
    • Planning, managing, monitoring and reporting on the work of (sometimes disparate) project teams to deliver results in a manner that is consistent with timescale, quality and cost criteria
    • Producing RAID logs and managing mitigation activities, including ongoing risk assessment
    • Working with key business stakeholders / divisions to clarify project outputs, timescale, quality and cost criteria and build sustainable relationships to enable the achievement of project objectives
    • Providing leadership, guidance and coaching to the project team
    • Working with Global teams (Technology, Security, Legal, Communications, etc.) to include their costs, activities and deliverables (including those delivered by external vendors) within the overall project scope and approach, providing leadership and support to ensure related outcomes are achieved
    • Creating high level and detailed documents, using a mixture of pictorial and written artefacts (within PowerPoint / Word / Visio / Planview) to effectively communicate with the project team, peers and stakeholders (including Executives and senior managers)
    • Assisting the Programme Manager and Global Chief Privacy Officer as part of the wider Privacy Program
    • Actively keeping abreast of industry practices and contributing to maintaining a high performing team
    • Complying with the Professional Standards Manual in accordance with statutory requirements for the role with specific attention, but not limited to, managing client and other sensitive data, Whistle Blowing, Treating Customers Fairly
    • Complete all mandatory training within prescribed timescales and achieve the minimum continuous professional development (CPD) hours within the year

    Skills / Experience You Will Need:
    Qualifications
    • Educated to degree level or equivalent desired
    • Project Management PMP or Prince 2 certification desired
    Technical Knowledge
    • Must have excellent knowledge of project management methodologies, ability to effectively plan and develop project plans and work breakdown structures, excellent leadership and communication skills and the ability to interpret and present complex ideas effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
    • Excellent knowledge of business improvement and change management methodologies, and the ability to identify and communicate the critical path for a project, along with key risks, issues and dependencies impacting the successful delivery of the project.
    • Knowledge of general insurance products, services, and classes of insurance is preferred, along with a solid understanding of underlying legal principles and practices relating to risk in the insurance industry.
    • Knowledge of and demonstrable experience in data privacy and protection related initiatives with technology related components would be an advantage.
    Experience and Skills
    • Previously held a variety of project management roles, demonstrating a very good understanding of the projects objective and success criteria
    • Demonstrable full life cycle project management experience, along with experience of leading complex, and time bound projects
    • Experience successfully delivering projects / change to agreed outcomes across multiple disparate business divisions with differing needs and challenges
    • Experience successfully delivering projects with Information Technology components
    • Experience confidently managing and sustaining a key relationship network within a project environment
    • Ability to tailor required learning from a range of sources to aid in the execution of the role
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, verbal and written communication skills - with the ability to communicate in English effectively with all levels of the Company, including Executives and senior level management across multiple jurisdictions, both in person and remotely
    • Ability to negotiate, persuade and influence business decisions across all stakeholder groups
    • Ability to respond confidently to conflicts and manage situations respectfully and professionally, and proactively escalating issues
    • A self-starter, time management and deadline driven; able to set priorities, including when under pressure, and ability to monitor progress towards goals
    • Decisive project leadership in times of ambiguity and evolving business needs
    • Ability to lead and motivate others through good people management skills
    • Creative problem-solver with a positive attitude and ability to think strategically as well as operate at a detailed level
    • Attention to detail, comfortable with conducting analysis and handling financial data
