Job Description:
Performs any combination of following duties in assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards according to specifications, using hand tools: Reads worksheets and wiring diagrams by following travelers to determine assembly duties, and selected components, such as transistors, resistors, relays, capacitors, and integrated circuits.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assembly of electronic assemblies.
- SMT and TH basic soldering utilizing both lead and lead-free solder.
- Experienced with de-soldering, post-solder rework.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, bills of material and other standard manufacturing work instructions.
- Ability to solder to IPC standards.
- Experience with surface mount and through-hole components.
- Assembly of cables and harnesses.
- Twists, bends, trims, strips, or files wire leads of components or reams holes in boards to insert wire leads, using hand tools.
- Inserts color-coded wires in designated holes and clinches wire ends, using pliers.
- Press-fits component leads onto board.
- Places plastic insulating sleeves around specified wire leads of components and shrinks sleeves into place, using heat gun.
- Crimps wire leads on underside of board, using hand tools or press.
- Applies sealer or masking compound to selected parts of board to protect parts from effects of wave solder process.
- Solders wire leads and joints on underside of board, using soldering iron, to route and connect lead wires to board and between individual components.
- Installs heat sinks, sockets, faceplates, and accessories on boards, using hand tools.
- Mask and/or tape circuit boards in areas that are to be free of conformal coating or potting.
- Transport racks of circuit boards from one destination to another to continue the manufacturing process.
- Perform general housekeeping duties to provide a safe and clean working environment at all times.
Education and Experience:
- High School degree or GED.
- Computer skills a plus.
Key Skills:
- Hand soldering.
- Pass and maintain IPC-A-610D certification.
- Use of visual aids may be required such as magnification lenses, binocular microscopes, and specific personal safety equipment.
- Component identification knowledge required.
- Able to speak, read, write and understand English as it relates to performing job requirements.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Maximum weight to be handled is 50 pounds.
- The majority of the work is to be performed in a sitting position. The ability to remain seated in a chair for up to 8 hours at a time if necessary, and perform repetitive hand motions.
- May occasionally perform duties in a standing, kneeling or squatting position.
- Good eyesight and the ability to distinguish color is necessary.
Working Conditions:
- The work setting consists of a production environment with suitable lighting, a moderate to high noise level, and fluctuating temperatures.
- The work schedule consists of a five-day, 40-hour workweek, with overtime dependent on department needs.
- You may be required to wear eye protection for the majority of the shift.
- This is a safe working environment with mild chemical odor and fumes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
