WiTricity is seeking a Printed Circuit Board Designer for our wireless charging engineering team supporting high power ground charging and electrical vehicle applications. Projects will focus on developing products from concept through design, release to manufacturing and design maintenance.
This position will support our global engineering and manufacturing team and includes supporting our ECAD component library environment. The role requires extensive collaboration with electrical and mechanical peers to develop efficient PCB layouts to optimize cost, space, interconnect, and assembly requirements. The role requires creating and maintaining PCB design guidelines for both internal use and for 3rd party external partners. Candidates must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly technical environment.
Responsibilities:- Oversee the entire process of printed circuit board design from inception to manufacturing readiness to production maintenance.
- Generate comprehensive fabrication and assembly output files, including Gerber files and fabrication & assembly drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness for successful manufacturing.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of layout requirements and manufacturing processes for both SMT and thru-hole technology, including aspects such as blind and buried vias, high power design, controlled impedances, copper weight, and material selection.
- Determine layer stack-up, perform component package selection, component placement, routing feasibility studies and signal routing of analog, digital, RF and high-power signals.
- Utilize Altium Designer to execute PCB design tasks in accordance with project requirements.
- Act as the primary communication for contract manufacturers addressing any issues or questions regarding PCB fabrication and assembly. Closely interface with peer electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless coordination with our global design team.
- Management of the ECAD library and creation of schematic symbols and PCB footprints using Altium Designer.
- Generate and maintain engineering PCB design rule guidelines to ensure consistent designs across all product lines.
Requirements:- BS in Electronics, or related discipline. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in PCB layout design
- Sound knowledge and adherence to ANSI, JEDEC and IPC standards (IPC2221A)
- Experience with Altium Designer or equivalent PCB CAD tool
- Experience with high power/analog/digital PCB design including MOSFET, gate driver circuits.
- Proficient designing for exceptional signal and power integrity while minimizing signal noise.
- Knowledge of PCB fabrication process and material selection.
- Experience in component part generation and library management.
- Experience designing for DFM, DFT, DFA and UL safety compliance.
- Ability to participate in schematic and design reviews.
- Experience collaborating with 3rd party layout service bureaus.
- Automotive and/or industrial high power design experience a plus.
- Energetic team player who is fully engaged with the success of the business and a willingness to do what is necessary to get the job done.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
