The 14th Circuit of the Solicitor's Office seeks a mental-health counselor to become part of an expanding Multi-Disciplinary Diversion Court program. This “alternative-sentencing” program rehabilitates qualifying offenders with treatment and support, as an alternative to prison. Once available only in Beaufort County, the MDC is expanding into the entire 14th Circuit, to include Allendale, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties. Our in-house counselor will provide services for participants and assist with case management.
The goal is to address the underlying problems that are causing an individual to commit crimes so they become productive members of society. We have impressive recidivism rates and graduation rates.
Job duties:
The Mental Health Therapist will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing and treating adults in the 14th Circuit Multi-Disciplinary Court program. Familiarity with the substance-use population and behavioral needs for dual-diagnosed patients is strongly preferred. The Mental Health Therapist must have experience conducting Bio-Psycho-Social Assessments and the ability to accurately diagnose disorders using DSM-5 criteria. He or she will also develop and execute individualized treatment plans that include measurable goals. Any interventions outlined in the treatment plan must be founded on best practices and evidence-based modalities. The counselor will also work with other therapists/staff as part of a clinical team. The counselor will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will regularly participate in weekly staffing meetings and in judicial status hearings. Must be able to maintain timely and accurate documentation and provide regular client updates to the MDC team. Make referrals to outside professionals and programs as appropriate. Travel between counties in the Circuit and some evenings and weekends is required. Other duties as assigned.
