    The Challenge:

    The designer will use TxDOT and MUTCD specifications to create detailed drawings for traffic control plans.

    What you'll do:

    1. Uses software (Invarion) to create full-scale and detailed traffic control plans
    2. Draws plans for traffic control layouts instructions provided by engineers.
    3. Reviews construction documents to create traffic control plans
    4. Visits jobsites to gather data needed to complete designs.
    5. Determines the types of materials needed and calculates the quantity to be ordered.
    6. Working with an engineer, generates costs estimates, contracts, and other documents required for individual projects.
    7. Performs other duties as assigned.

    What you'll need to succeed:

    1. Must enjoy working with people. 
    2. Ability to remain patient in trying situations. 
    3. Understanding of traffic control procedures and plans. 
    4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
    5. Ability to read, comprehend, and explain state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances as they pertain to traffic control. 
    6. ATSSA Traffic Control Design Specialist Course within 30 days of hire.
