Communications wire and cable products transmit low-voltage signals for voice, data, video and control applications. Energy cables include low-, medium- and high-voltage power distribution and power transmission products. The Industrial and Specialty segment is comprised of application-specific cables for uses such as electrical power generation (traditional fuels, alternative and renewable sources, and distributed generation), the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, mining, industrial automation, marine, military and aerospace applications, power applications in the telecommunications industry, and other key industrial segments.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Manager has responsibility for managing the manufacturing process to effectively use materials, labor and equipment to meet the business plan for one unit, composed of multiple manufacturing cells. The Production Manager has responsibility for total production of the unit, to include production requirements, defect levels, waste and work order attainment. This position is responsible for the manufacturing operations of a unit within a manufacturing facility with an operating budget of $50 million.
- Assures availability of all resources necessary to operate the unit, including adequate direct labor, technical and maintenance resources, and all other required direct support.
- Coordinates with Production Control and the cell associates, schedule sequencing and load leveling in the cells.
- Coordinates with Engineering and Quality to eliminate waste and improve process capability.
- Champions health and safety, environment, and 5S programs
- Uses Lean Sigma tools to troubleshoot recurring issues and eliminate root cause process failures.
- Performs other related duties as required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Results driven with a demonstrated ability working in a high performance manufacturing environment.
- Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to motivate, communicate and lead continuous improvement.
- Excellent analytical abilities.
- Solid planning, organization and administrative skills.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing
Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree or equivalent desired
- Greenbelt certification desired.
- 3-5 Years manufacturing management experience, preferably in a team-based environment.
- Project management experience
