Principal Architect oversees and manages a team responsible for architectural projects. Reviews and approves architectural procedures and techniques used to complete projects. Being an Principal Architect has a diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices, uses advanced techniques, and has responsibility for final specifications, approval of ordered materials, and overall guidance on objectives and concepts. Ensures architectural designs are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards. Additionally, Principal Architect keeps up to date on the development of new architectural methods or techniques. Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture. Requires a State Architect's License. Typically reports to a director. The Principal Architect typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Principal Architect typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     What you will be doing:

    • Managing a team of Drafters and Designers
    • Reviewing, commenting and ultimately signing and sealing Construction Documents
    • Identifying clients’ priorities versus desires, budget, timetable and possible future needs
    • Determining clients’ preferences regarding materials, styles, colors, and other variables
    • Preparing and presenting preliminary sketches, designs, specifications, estimated costs, and proposed construction schedule
    • Creating detailed plans integrating engineering, electrical, and HVAC considerations for clients’ approval
    • Preparing scale drawings and contract requirements and submits for bids
    • Collaborating with clients to select and award construction contracts
    • Partnering with the head builder and clients to facilitate the building process to meet specifications
    • Modifying new or existing plans as required

    What you will bring:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture required, Master’s degree preferred
    • 5 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Active Texas board licensure is a must
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds

    Who you are:

    • Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Highly proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software
    • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (or related software)
    • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation and consultation skills
    • Ability to translate client ideas into visual and/or tangible references
