Press Operator Assistant - All Widths jobs in Massachusetts

Candlewick Press, a leading publisher of books for children, located in Somerville, MA, seeks an Editorial Assistant. The Editorial Assistant will provide variable levels of administrative and editorial support to an Executive Editorial Director and two off-site Senior Executive Editors (one of whom works part-time) with duties and responsibilities to include:

• attending weekly publishing/production meetings and book development meetings
• reviewing various stages of circulating books on behalf of Supervisors
• drafting jacket copy
• reading and preparing reader's reports for submissions and active projects
• attending tri-yearly sales conferences and bi-yearly foreign rights conferences
• liaising with authors and agents
• preparing packages for mailing to authors, agents, and others
• assisting in documenting/updating departmental processes
• other administrative tasks as needed

Required Skills and Experience:

Candidates must be extremely organized, attentive to detail, and able to multitask and prioritize. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and possess a strong interest in children's trade publishing, a motivation to learn, exceptional English language skills (proofreading, spelling, grammar), and strong communication and relationship-building skills. They will be expected to become proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other common computer programs.

This is a full-time position based in Somerville, MA, with the option for hybrid work. The annual salary for this role is $41k.
