Position General Description:

We are looking for a Mailing Machine Assistant who works well in a team environment and is interested in learning and growing in a Machine Operator career. This position is responsible for assisting in the completion of mail production work, including machine setup, operation, and preparation of mail for the post office.

Descruties:

· Assists Machine Operator in the operating & setup of mailing machines

· Sorts and prepares material as it comes off mailing machines for delivery to Post Office as needed and as required

· Shows ability and drive to learn and progress into a Mailing Machine Operator Position

· Verifies all pertinent paperwork as to its accuracy, as needed

· Verifies the quality/quantity of production on assigned machine

· Cleans and maintains machine as needed

· Uses pallet jacks, hand trucks, and strapping machines to fulfill duties

· Follows detailed verbal and written instructions

· Shows ability to coordinate work with other team members to achieve departmental goals

· Works and cross-trains on other mailing and bindery equipment as needed

· Flexible with schedule as needed

·Maintains regular and predictable attendance

· All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Skills Required:

• The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively
• Willingness to learn
• Mechanically inclined, with the ability to learn and trouble shoot mailing machine equipment
• Previous mailing machine experience, as well as knowledge of postal regulations preferred
• Ability to work independently with high degree of initiative and drive.

• · Able to read tickets for work instructions
• · Quality focused

Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or GED

Minimum Experience Required: Mailing machine experience preferred, but not required.

Reports To: Direct Mailing Services Manager

Shift/Hours: Swing Shift 2p-10:30p

Salary Range: Hourly, based on skills and experience

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
