Press Operator - All Widths completes print production jobs on various types of printing press machines, including digital, flexographic, web, screen, or others. Reviews job specifications and complete setup tasks, including filling ink, calibrating machine, and loading stock. Being a Press Operator - All Widths conducts visual inspection of samples prior to running job. Performs in-process quality inspections utilizing standard testing protocols. Additionally, Press Operator - All Widths completes all required production logs and documentation. Interprets equipment diagnostics, troubleshoots breakdowns, and makes necessary adjustments to complete the job.   • Position Summary

    Set up and operate Press Brakes in accordance with specifications, plans, and safety standards.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, your duties and responsibilities may be different than those described.

    • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
    • Comply with Company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations, and policies while performing duties.
    • Daily Operation of Press Brakes
    • Tests and adjusts machine controls and aligns tool position such as dies, gauges, guides, and holding devices
    • Positions workpieces for processing
    • Uses measuring instruments and hand tools to ensure proper clearances, dimensions, and specified tolerances for workpieces
    • Examines finished workpieces for conformance to quality standards
    • Records information such as the number of workpieces processed, dates, and times of product production
    • Stacks and bands material for shipment
    • Change/Setup tooling as needed
    • Completes work order paperwork/documentation
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

    Job Requirements
    Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalence plus three years of working knowledge of Press Brake machines; operating processes, procedures, and techniques used in operating Press Brake machines desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. One-year experience as a Press Brake machine operator required plus experience operating overhead cranes. Requires knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and OSHA regulations.
    Skills: Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read instructions, tickets, safety and policies manuals). Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systems. Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals to fractions. Basic knowledge in understanding drawings and calculating the correct circumference of material. Minimum one (1) year of experience as a machine operator.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear all required personal protective equipment, as prescribed under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. The employee must be able to work above ground at heights of a minimum of 50 feet aloft and/or working from scaffolding and/or man-lifts while working with machinery; in confined spaces and withstanding extreme heat and cold in an outside climate or confined space.

The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, continual loud noise, and other hazards found in a heavy industrial shipyard environment. Rigorous compliance with safety procedures, policies, and personal safety equipment requirements is therefore mandatory.
