Precision Grinder operates precision grinding machines to assemble products and product parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications. Selects, mounts, attaches and calibrates a variety of attachments and grinding machines for grinding angles, contours, lines, and spheres on to surfaces. Being a Precision Grinder requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager. The Precision Grinder works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Job Summary
Grinds cut parts to remove excess slag using hand tools and hand-held power tools. Tasks are performed in a manner to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Tasks
· Grind or chip away excess slag using hand tools and hand-held power tools.
· Check cut quality.
· Use drawings to measure and verify part dimensions.
· Reports any quality, quantity, or dimension issues.
· Label parts with required information. (BP name, part number, PO. #, HT#)
· Assist with moving finished parts to order pallets and/or Press Brake area
· Assist in plasma operating or loading and unloading table.
· Assist with weekly and monthly shop maintenance.
· Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Physical Requirements
· Requires standing, bending, twisting, and repetitive movement.
· Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
· Requires lifting and carrying up to 50lbs.
· Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures.
