    MPS is seeking a Sr. Power Module Design Engineer with electromagnetic materials specialty. This role is responsible for developing magnetic materials for highly integrated MPS power module products. This role will drive packaging material development from concept to mass production and apply the as-developed materials into high-density and integrated power modules from concept to mass production.

    Essential Functions:

    • Define, formulate, process, and characterize advanced magnetic materials for switching mode power supply modules.
    • Conduct experiments on magnetic materials and characterize its properties for the applications of power modules.
    • Establish manufacturer/supplier relations to support material and manufacturing process development.
    • Build instrumentations and platforms for material synthesis, processing, and characterization from lab-scale to mass production.
    • Drive the cross-functional collaboration with the product, packaging, test, and reliability team to bring power module solutions from concept to mass production.

    Qualifications:

    • PhD or Master in Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with emphases on magnetics, power electronics, packaging, processing, or related field. 
    • Strong experience on magnetic materials for power magnetic components.
    • Strong hands-on experience on magnetic material development.
    • Proficiency with magnetic characterization techniques (e.g., permeability, core-loss, etc.)
    • Experience on power electronics packaging assembly process, reliability, and failure analysis is preferred.
    • Experience on electromagnetic, thermal, and thermo-mechanical FEA simulations on the materials and power package is desired.
    • Highly enthusiastic in solving multi-disciplinary challenges in fast paced product-oriented environments.
    • Effective priority management skills across multiple tasks.
    • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

    Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The base salary range for this position in California is $130,000 - $170,000.
