Carolina Power Systems of Sumter, Inc. is looking for a self-motivated, hard worker with experience working with low voltage electrical equipment. CPS designs and builds a range of electrical equipment for US Navy and US Coast Guard shipboard applications.
Individual should be a detail oriented, self-starter with the ability to accomplish job duties without continual oversight.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Ability to read and interpret various drawings including electrical schematics, interface drawings and CAD drawings.
- Test low voltage equipment such as 450VAC, 3 Phase, 3 Wire 60Hz motor controllers, electrical switchgear, control panels, etc.
- Assist production staff with problems and questions during Assembly and Wiring of equipment.
- Use schematics to troubleshoot and fix a wide range of control circuits.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately with a team to accomplish testing and troubleshooting tasks.
- Follow quality assurance procedures in place to ensure all product discrepancies are resolved prior to product shipment and equipment testing is properly documented.
- Ability to assess control circuits for safety, accuracy and efficiency.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
-Familiarity with ISO Quality Management System is a plus.
-Experience with PLCs including PLC programming is a plus.
-Electrical switchgear or switchboard troubleshooting experience is a plus.
-Ability to occasionally travel to modify and/or troubleshoot equipment in the field is required .
-U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
-Background check required to allow access to shipyards and Navy/Coast Guard bases.
-Must be willing to go on field service in any US State when required. Traveling is 10% at best.
Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and be capable of lifting, bending and squatting and generally working on his or her feet for an extended period.
Required education:
·High school Diploma/ or equivalent.
Electrical training and experience in AC/DC control Circuits is a plus.
