Power Scheduler develops and maintains daily, weekly and monthly schedules for power generation, storage, and wheeling. Monitors and coordinates generation and interchange according to contracts and pooling arrangements. Being a Power Scheduler schedules all power purchases and sales with other utilities. Maintains logs documenting all relevant operating information, problems and issues. Additionally, Power Scheduler requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Power Scheduler occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • Responsibilities:

    • Works within a team concept to insure NSO availability and reliability.
    • Monitors and inspects all assigned equipment, determines operating condition, performs routine cleaning, and makes minor repairs as required.
    • Assists in plant start-ups, shut-downs, and normal and emergency plant operations as required.
    • Isolates equipment and ensures safe work conditions for maintenance activities in accordance with the safety clearance procedure.
    • Maintains neat, accurate logs and records from routine inspections of operating equipment.
    • Operates all assigned equipment including, but not limited to, steam generation, turbine, solar field, condensate, feedwater, and cooling water systems, etc., as required.
    • Operates the plant makeup water treatment equipment including, reverse osmosis unit, EDI, and chemical feed systems.
    • Performs basic water chemistry tests on all water systems as required.
    • While working rotating shifts, 12 hours per day, all meal periods and breaks shall be considered as paid, on-duty time.
    • The employee will coordinate work activities with coworkers and the Control Room Operator, as appropriate, to facilitate the applicable meal and break periods.
    • Reports potential maintenance issues to the control room operator for entry into the maintenance management system.
    • Advises Control Room Operator of daily activities and irregularities in plant operations.
    • Performs routine housekeeping and cleaning for work area.
    • Performs First Responder duties as required, within the level of training completed.
    • Assists maintenance personnel as required.
    • Assists in monitoring and adjusting solar field performance including but not limited to field balancing and minor repairs.
    • Takes advantage of opportunities to improve skills, with the goal of becoming a qualified control room operator.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • High school education or equivalent, plus two years' experience working with industrial or production plant equipment, or equivalent training and/or experience.
    • A good working knowledge of power plant instrumentation and controls, including routine maintenance.
    • Must possess and maintain a current Nevada driver's license.
