Job Description: Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a full-time entry- to mid-level Environmental Scientist/Wetland Scientist with 0-5 years’ experience for our York, PA office to assist in our growing Natural & Cultural Resource practice. The position will entail technical work focusing on natural resource surveys and documentation, with an emphasis on transportation and pipeline projects. U.S. Residency Required.
Position Summary: The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team including environmental scientists, archaeologists, architectural historians, engineers, and planners. The qualified candidate must be able to write at a professional level and present ideas in a well thought-out and comprehensive manner. This position requires approximately 50% working in the outdoors and 50% working in an office setting.
The preferred candidate must enjoy working outdoors. Field work is required approximately 50% of the time and will require but may not be limited to certain physical demands while performing duties in the field. These physical requirements will include the ability to walk, stand, kneel, or bend for extended periods of time and be able to carry field equipment and supplies long distances. Field work may be conducted during any time of the year and may occur in a variety of weather and field/terrain conditions, as needed. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed. The candidate is not required to perform field work in hazardous weather conditions or obvious unsafe conditions. Field work may require travel within the continental U.S. and require up to a week away from the office at a time.
Work is performed within a general office environment approximately 50% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Office work is performed with adequate lighting and temperature, with no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
