Postdoctorate Scientist performs scientific research in collaboration with a research team. Primarily a temporary position. Being a Postdoctorate Scientist requires an advanced degree. Works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in solution or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Mid-Level Scientist

    What’s the Opportunity?

    Anchor QEA is looking for a geoscientist to work on all phases of environmental projects with electric utility clients. The projects will focus on compliance with coal combustion residuals regulations and contaminated site cleanup.


    What Are We Looking For?

    Ideal candidates will have the following:

    • Master of Science, Geology or Geosciences
    • Minimum of 3 to 6 years of experience
    • Professional Geologist license in Alabama or ability to register within 2 years (with ability to register in other states)
    • Experience working for electric utility clients on both coal combustion residuals issues, and legacy contaminated site assessment and remediation (preferred).
    • Experience with the assessment and cleanup of sites impacted with inorganic constituents such as arsenic (preferred).
    • Field work experience is required.
    • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time and perform field work is a must.
    • Equally comfortable with field work (such as well installation, soil and groundwater sampling, rock core logging etc.sampling) and office work (such as report writing and data analysis)


    Additionally, the candidate should have experience with the following:

    • Performing field reconnaissance
    • Procuring and managing contractors and subcontractors, preferred
    • Performing subcontractor oversight and subcontractor administration tasks
    • Facilitating meetings with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
    • Preparing groundwater monitoring, site assessment, remediation and related reports, including text, tables, appendices, and managing figures
    • Developing strong and lasting client relationships
    • Delegate and oversee work tasks to peers. 
    • Contribute to development of scopes of work, budgets, and schedules
    • Maintain firm understanding of and implementing corporate health and safety policies


    A willingness to work on a variety of tasks, an ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. The successful candidate will be very detail-oriented, highly organized, and have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products is important. A successful candidate will have knowledge of health and safety practices.
