Job Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Research and Development, the Junior Food Scientist operates as a supporting member of R&D team to deliver the initiatives, business plan, and objectives of High Liner Foods Inc. The Junior Food Scientist is responsible for supporting the development of new food products from gold standard through commercialization.
Competencies:- Knowledge of Food Science Principles, basic understanding of ingredient functionality with emphasis on coating systems and applications.
- Understanding of Sensory evaluation techniques.
- Ability to manage multiple task and project; manage to established deadlines.
- Familiarity with drafting formulations.
- Strong organizational skills, strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with all levels of personal with verbal, written and electronic modes.
- Adept critical thinker with good problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge in culinary principles.
Qualifications:- Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related field,
- Self-motivated, with ability to work independently.
- Adaptability and flexibility concerning work environment & project priority.
- Good analytical skills and decision-making ability.
- Time management skills and ability to handle fast paced environment.
- Strong PC competency; including Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Internet etc.
Working conditions:
This position is located in Portsmouth, NH. The position involves daily or frequent contact with satellite R&D groups, operations, business channel managers, sales, procurement, purchasing, regulatory, and quality assurance managers. It also involves external contact with suppliers. The position requires travel, domestically and internationally. This is a hybrid role, that would require the sucessfull applicant to be in the office 2 days a week.
