What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be an integral member of the Discovery Protein Science team in the Biologic Therapeutic Discovery organization. You are expected to focus on membrane protein drug targets, drive the science through hands-on lab work and implementation of enabling technologies to advance the Amgen pipeline.

Responsibilities:

• Work with multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced work environment for LM/SM drug discovery of membrane protein targets across diverse therapeutic areas at Amgen;
• Apply expertise in membrane protein research to advance pipeline programs in various discovery and development stages;
• Design and implement tailored strategies for recombinant production of complex membrane proteins to enable hit identification, validation and lead optimization.
• Strong experience in protein modeling and structure-function analysis, you will lead the effort in high throughput membrane protein engineering, expression, screening and collectively drive innovative science and technology development in the membrane protein science arena;
• Maintain detailed records and present regular updates to the project teams as well as scientific findings externally

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree and 3 years of protein research experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of protein research experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• New PhD or PhD with Post Doc experience in protein research
• Proven scientific understanding and hands-on experience in membrane protein purification, formulation and characterization
• Experience in protein expression in E. coli, yeast, insect cells or mammalian cells
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
