Job Description: A Commercial Portfolio Manager is responsible for credit analysis, assisting and ensuring loan structures are appropriate, and balancing loan structures with credit policy and bank lending standards. A Commercial Portfolio Manager collaborates closely with Commercial Relationship Manager(s) and provides support to the Commercial Relationship Manager(s). Duties also include communicating effectively with internal partners and clients about existing portfolios, client development, and creating reports on portfolio activities. The job is fast paced and requires the completion of financial analysis and credit analysis to obtain a deeper understanding of the credit risks.
Expectations:
- Managing commercial credit analysis
- Support commercial loan processing document preparation, servicing, and overall portfolio management.
- Communicate with clients and prospects to collect financials and documentation to help facilitate commercial loan closings.
- Support and facilitate complex commercial loan requests with the Commercial Relationship Manager(s).
- Be an active participant in the annual renewal and new commercial loan request processes.
- Monitor borrowing base reports, early warning, and other tracking reports, such as covenants, past dues, maturities, etc.
- Oversee preparation and/or coordination of loan document completion and review.
- Execute client transactional requests.
- Review Commitment letters based on established requirements.
- Examine moderate to high complexity loan documentation to ensure accuracy and accordance with loan approval requirements.
- Facilitate loan closings in conjunction with and on behalf of Relationship Manager(s).
- Ensure all loan approval conditions have been met within required time frame.
- Proactively identify and escalate declining financial performance/negative indicators within the loan portfolio to Market Executives, Relationship Managers, Credit Administration and Loan Operations
- Oversee moderate to higher complexity construction loans in accordance and in conjunction with the Construction Loan Administration group as needed.
- Follow covenant testing protocols and manage waiver letter process when applicable.
- Act as the first line of defense to recommend and process timely risk rating changes in conjunction with the Relationship Manager(s)
- Initiate and/or complete loan modifications per established protocols.
- Manage and maintain collateral requirements including ordering appraisals, environmental reports, and property searches.
- Coordinate and assist with criticized loan reports as part of the Watch List program.
- Act as a liaison with Commercial Loan Operations, Loan Review, Audit, examiners and other departments as required.
- Schedule regular meetings/calls with Commercial Relationship Manager(s) and clients to stay well-informed of business activity/performance and serve as additional contact point.
- Optimize client relationships and create an exceptional client experience.
- Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency.
- Work with on-site equipment
- Complete other duties and special projects as requested by management.
- Continuously updates skills by participating in professional training and seeks opportunities to improve skills through cross-training offered by the Bank.
- Works with Relationship Manager, Credit Administrators and Loan Assistant to minimize past due loans.
- Builds and maintains a positive working relationship with attorneys, appraisers, developers, and others to enhance the Bank’s image and reputation in the marketplace.
- Stays abreast of products and services the Bank is providing.
- Comply with all corporate standards and audit-related matters in specific areas of responsibility.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable Bank policies and procedures, as well as all State and Federal regulations; has responsibility for following regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti- Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and OFAC to assist in the identification, detection and determent of money laundering or other unlawful activities.
- Minimal travel for client servicing.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or related degree preferred.
- 2-3 years of commercial portfolio management experience.
- Prior C&I, CRE, financial statement and tax analysis experience and background in credit analysis.
