Polysomnographic Technician under the direction of a physician, administers various sleep studies in order to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders. Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records, documents other test results, and collects and transmits biological specimens for analysis. Being a Polysomnographic Technician typically requires an associate degree or its equivalent and certification as a Polysomnographic Technician. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Qualifications & Skills: a) Education: Graduate of AMA-approved school of polysomnography, registered polysomnography technician (RPsgT), BLS certified. b) Training & Experience: At least one year experience in polysomnography, familiarity with Sensor Medics SomnoStar System, including set up, configuration, data acquisition, data transfer, scoring and report generation. c) Job Knowledge: Strong skills in sleep disorders, patient screening, scanning (including central apnea and hypopnea, obstructive apnea and hypopnea, ALS-level arrhythmia recognition, sleep staying, CPAP titration, BiPAP titration, O2 administration), use of various CPAP and BiPAP appliances, report validation and generation. |
