Summary:
To run point on all legislative and regulatory issues within the boundaries of the Montana Grain Growers Association policy resolutions, budget, and guidance from the Board of Directors and Executive Vice President.
Reportability:
The policy director reports to the Executive Vice President of the Montana Grain Growers Association.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Executive Vice President, Lobbyist and Executive Officers for state and federal policy issues.
Manage the Montana Grain Growers Association’s policy resolutions.
Facilitate policy development with leadership and members.
Serve as the point of contact for policy issues with National Association of Wheat Growers and National Barley Growers Association.
Maintain strong working relationships with elected officials, policy staff, and other stakeholders.
Prepare policy updates for leadership and members in written and verbal communication on a regular basis.
Collaborate with other stakeholder groups and coalitions.
Qualifications:
Ability to inspire confidence, create trust, and reflect the values of the Montana Grain Growers Association.
Working knowledge of agriculture and farming.
Clear and consistent verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to be flexible, an independent worker, and a team player.
Ability to work under pressure and plan workload effectively.
Ability to travel and maintain a flexible schedule.
Bachelor’s degree in public policy or equivalent work experience.
