Police Sergeant jobs in North Carolina
Police Sergeant is responsible for supervising patrol officers and agents as assigned and maintaining the chain of command within the operations of the department. Responsible for developing training programs for department personnel, directing special units, preparing special reports or projects as assigned, receiving and reviewing reports from officers, and assigning personnel in accordance to specific needs. Being a Police Sergeant requires a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and/or additional certifications and at least 5-7 years of law enforcement experience. Typically reports to a chief of police, captain, or lieutenant. The Police Sergeant manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Police Sergeant typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. This position is for a North Carolina Certified Law Enforcement Officer with at least 4 years of law enforcement experience. Applicant MUST meet the requirements and live within 45-55 minutes from Scotland Neck.

Maintains proficiency in the use of police related equipment. Appears in court, and is available to testify in matters which he/she has knowledge whether it be criminal or civil.
Assists in the screening and assessing of applicants.
Assist in hiring decisions.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Shift: SPLIT (4P-4A) Schedule (4 on duty followed by 4 off duty) Flex Shifts
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,900.00 - $54,300.00 per year
