Police Records Clerk maintains the records filing system and/or database used to manage, access, and preserve electronic and paper records of criminal justice activities. Assists in providing accurate and clear information to public and other departments. Being a Police Records Clerk may perform other clerical duties including taking photographs, fingerprints, and answering telephone inquiries. Typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Police Records Clerk typically reports to police sergeant or police lieutenant. The Police Records Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Records Clerk types correspondence, memos, and such documents as may be assigned, transcribes tapes, makes copies, and operates computer, telephone, and fax machine. The Secretary also maintains an appointment book, answers, screens, and routes incoming calls, makes calls for the Detective Division, and submits reports, files, and other documents to detectives in support of the office and other authorities as directed. The Secretary also performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school diploma or GED plus specialized training and/or additional college courses and 12-18 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. THIS SHIFT IS 1:00 P.M. TO 10:00 P.M. CLOSING DATE: 3/27/24
