Police Records Clerk maintains the records filing system and/or database used to manage, access, and preserve electronic and paper records of criminal justice activities. Assists in providing accurate and clear information to public and other departments. Being a Police Records Clerk may perform other clerical duties including taking photographs, fingerprints, and answering telephone inquiries. Typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Police Records Clerk typically reports to police sergeant or police lieutenant. The Police Records Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Under direct supervision, the Police Records Clerk performs administrative and clerical duties for the Police Department. Researches, locates, disseminates, and assists with various records requests, police documents, and various other data inquiries.

A valid State driver's license is required.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate AND one (1) year of clerical, administrative, and/or technical office support experience using automated office equipment, preferably including some previous customer service or public contact; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
