Police Patrol Officer is responsible for patrolling an assigned area to prevent and discover crime and to enforce regulations. Responsible for responding to calls, taking necessary action at the scene of crime or disturbance, conducting investigations, making arrests, testifying in court, and completing reports/forms and routine paperwork. Being a Police Patrol Officer requires an associate degree in criminal justice and/or additional certifications and at least 12 to 18 months of law enforcement experience. Requires Firearms Certification. Additionally, Police Patrol Officer typically reports to a police sergeant. The Police Patrol Officer works under moderate supervision. The Ocean Pines Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer on its year-round police force. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, be a citizen of the United States, possess a high school diploma or GED, and have vision correctable to 20/20. Applicants must also have a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and have no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving perjury, false statement, moral turpitude or domestic violence. A post-offer physical exam, drug test and psychological exam shall be required.
Salary: Maryland certified applicants: $53,928 annually; Entry-Level applicants: $50,400 annually.
Benefits: Shift differential pay; Health insurance; 11 paid holidays; 401k Retirement w/employer match of 5%; paid sick leave; 2 weeks paid vacation, assigned take-home vehicle and Pine Privileges (including an 18-hole golf course, aquatic membership for 5 swimming pools, and racquet sports).
