Police Lieutenant supervises a team of police sergeants and other law enforcement support staff. Responsible for officer assignments, patrol operations, and investigations. Being a Police Lieutenant prepares and reviews reports. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Additionally, Police Lieutenant coordinates in-service training, staff performance evaluation and development. Requires a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or closely related field. Typically reports to a chief of police or police captain. The Police Lieutenant typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Overview:

Duties:
- Conduct regular patrols of the city of Redfield to deter and detect any suspicious activity.
- Monitor traffic and enforce state and local laws, ie: Traffic stops.
- Respond promptly to alarms and emergency situations, taking appropriate action as necessary
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies when necessary to resolve incidents or investigate crimes.
- Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of daily activities
- Complete a 13 Week basic police academy (for non-certified applicants)
Skills:
- Strong observation skills with the ability to quickly identify potential risks or threats
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage conflict situations
