Police Lieutenant supervises a team of police sergeants and other law enforcement support staff. Responsible for officer assignments, patrol operations, and investigations. Being a Police Lieutenant prepares and reviews reports. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Additionally, Police Lieutenant coordinates in-service training, staff performance evaluation and development. Requires a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or closely related field. Typically reports to a chief of police or police captain. The Police Lieutenant typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Police Lieutenant typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • Paragon Systems is hiring for the position of Lieutenant for our NIH contract..  Any interested candidates must be individuals of unquestionable integrity who display a mature attitude and exercise good judgment.  The Lieutenant must ensure the effective, efficient and accurate operations of the following:

    • Handles the day to day operations of assigned officer force in assigned area, ensuring all contractual requirements are met
    • Schedules/Inputs officers' time in payroll and minimizes overtime.
    • Ensures that posts are staffed and provides direct supervision of PSOs.
    • Maintains order and discipline of PSOs in accordance with established Rules of Personal Conduct and contractual agreements.
    • Ensures that officers have appropriate uniform and equipment.
    • Demonstrate capability in managing multi-tasks and supervising one or more subordinate units consisting of a squad or multiple squads of security or law enforcement personnel.
    • Other duties as assigned

    The Lieutenant must also meet the requirements listed below:

    • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
    • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Must be an U.S. Citizen and read, write, and speak English.
    • Must have detailed knowledge of federal contract security operations.
    • Required to demonstrate continuing physical fitness and proficiency with firearms or other special weapons.
    • Ability to use a computer is a MUST.
    • Must be able to pay full attention to detail, and be able to multi-task.
    • 2 years Armed security experience or, 2 years Military (active duty or Reserve) or National Guard experience, or successful completion of  Police Officer's Standard Training (Post) course.
    • 2 years of successful experience in field supervision (civilian community law enforcement, military service law enforcement, or commercial/industrial security force service),
    • Must have supervisor and conflict management skills (problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills).

    • Required to use vehicle for the performance of duties.
    • Regular talking and hearing.
    • Occasional walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
    •    Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

    Wage for this position is $29.16 and $5.00 Health & Welfare

    •The paid leave for full time employees is from 80-160 hours / year based on longevity in the position, and sick leave is a minimum of 48 hours per year for a full-time employee
