Police Lieutenant supervises a team of police sergeants and other law enforcement support staff. Responsible for officer assignments, patrol operations, and investigations. Being a Police Lieutenant prepares and reviews reports. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Additionally, Police Lieutenant coordinates in-service training, staff performance evaluation and development. Requires a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or closely related field. Typically reports to a chief of police or police captain. The Police Lieutenant typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Education:

Physical Demands:
Work includes walking, climbing, running, crawling, standing, kneeling, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, and handling. Must have sufficient mobility and physical stamina to respond quickly to emergency situations and work for long
periods of time when necessary. Must be able to safely lift, push, and/or pull up to 100 pounds. Must be able to handle unruly individuals using proper techniques. Must be available to work night shifts and long hours in emergency situations or other security matters.
Mental Demands:
Must demonstrate the ability to interact with others, make judgmental decisions, and demonstrate initiative. Must demonstrate ability to conform to the standards of the Health System. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and follow written/oral instructions.
Special Demands:
Knowledge and understanding of police
