Places paper containing identification information on camera grid, exposes film to identify information, develops and dries negative, and then forms printing plate. Being a Platemaker - Offset maintains production records and machines. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Platemaker - Offset typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Platemaker - Offset typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. May be entry level if some experience in the skill. Your schedule will probably be consistent after a couple weeks of training. Our workload varies so we may start earlier or stay a little later on certain days of the week.
We are willing to train someone with a desire to enter the printing career path. A trainee would be paid the lower hourly rate until certain tasks were mastered. Previous experience in printing or especially with Goss Community or DGM printing units will earn more hourly.
Duties
As a Press Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining printing presses to produce various printed materials. Your duties will include:
- Setting up and adjusting printing press machinery for production runs
- Monitoring the printing process to maintain print quality and consistency
- Performing routine maintenance on printing equipment
- Troubleshooting printing issues and making adjustments as needed
- Ensuring that final print meet quality standards and client specifications
- Collaborating with the design team to review artwork and make necessary adjustments
