Places paper containing identification information on camera grid, exposes film to identify information, develops and dries negative, and then forms printing plate. Being a Platemaker - Offset maintains production records and machines. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Platemaker - Offset typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Platemaker - Offset typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. May be entry level if some experience in the skill. Working as a Small Press Operator, you can expect the following:
• Must be knowledgeable with AB Dick, Ryobi, and Halm Jet Press
• Must have well-rounded knowledge of the print production process
• Maintains high quality standards and be detail oriented
• Must be able to set up and run jobs on your own
• Typically run 1/c and 2/c work producing envelopes, business cards, letterheads, etc.
• Quality control check each job maintaining necessary print quality and color match standards
• Complete all scheduled press maintenance
• Thoroughly read all production tickets and understand prior to beginning job.
• Other duties as assigned
Candidate Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
• Must be able to work 8 hours per day
• Must be willing to work overtime and extra days as needed
• Must be able to sit, stand, and kneel
• Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds
• Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
• 2-3 years of work experience in a fast-paced, detailed environment, is recommended.
