Plant Superintendent jobs in Pennsylvania

The Moon Township Municipal Authority (MTMA) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Water Treatment Plant Superintendent. The MTMA owns and operates a water treatment plant in Moon Township, PA near the Pittsburgh International Airport with a 5.18 MGD capacity. MTMA also owns and operates two wastewater treatment plants; one at 2.0 MGD and the other at 6.2 MGD capacity. The Superintendent is responsible for operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities consistent with overall objectives of the MTMA Mission Statement. This includes but is not limited to the following duties:

· Responsible for the water filtration plant, raw water pump station and groundwater wells, water storage tanks, and water interconnect pumping stations,

· Supervise daily activities to ensure that excellent quality drinking water, meeting all regulatory standards, is provided to customers at all times,

· Supervision of treatment plant operators to perform process control, maintenance, mechanical repairs, laboratory analysis and housekeeping,

· Maintenance of the operator schedule, approval of time sheets, overtime log and vacation and personal day schedule,

· Plan and oversee maintenance of equipment and process control, and purchase materials and chemicals,

· Responsible for operation of the water treatment plant in compliance with all regulatory requirements,

· Responsible for maintaining compliance with sampling schedule and reporting of water quality results to regulatory agency,

· Schedule work and procure contract services as necessary when required to maintain mechanical systems, computer control systems, and buildings in accordance with the capital budget and operational plans,

· Act as backup of wastewater plant superintendent,

· Available for after-hours emergency calls and site visits as necessary, and

· Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Candidates shall have a PA Class A water certification with subclasses 1, 7, 8, 10, 12 and 13 and have or be able to obtain a PA Class A wastewater certification with subclass 1 within 2 years. Candidates shall have 5 to 10 years of experience in water/wastewater plant operation with at least 2 years of supervisory experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or Management is preferred. Must have strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills to supervise operators and contractors and interact with regulatory representatives and vendors. Strong mechanical, construction skills or a strong science background are preferred. Must have a valid PA drivers license. Must live within a 30-minute response time of the water treatment plant location.
