Plant Superintendent supervises and coordinates workers' activities in all phases of plant operations. Develops and manages production and maintenance schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Superintendent utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and achieve production goals. Troubleshoots operational, materials, equipment, and staffing problems and coordinates solutions. Additionally, Plant Superintendent implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. This is a supervisory and management working position involving overall responsibility for planning, coordinating, and directing water pumping and water reclamation operations for the Town of Federalsburg. An employee in this class, with administrative direction from the Town Administrator and technical advice from a consultant, supervises the daily operations, directs on-the-job training, enforcing standard safety practices, policies and procedures and administers plant operations.
Work involves evaluative thinking and is carried out with functional precedents, established practices and defined policies.
This position is determined to be essential requiring the incumbent to work during emergency conditions. This position is also determined to be exempt in accordance with part 541.1, "Executive" Title 29, Code of Federal Regulations.
Performance will be evaluated periodically in conference, based on accomplishments, and on meeting previously agreed upon goals for the time period evaluated.
