Plant Superintendent supervises and coordinates workers' activities in all phases of plant operations. Develops and manages production and maintenance schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Superintendent utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and achieve production goals. Troubleshoots operational, materials, equipment, and staffing problems and coordinates solutions. Additionally, Plant Superintendent implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Plant Superintendent typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. We are seeking a Production team member to join our company. This position will involve working in a wholesale perennial plant nursery environment performing various duties related to plant cultivation, care, and overall nursery maintenance. The ideal candidate will have experience in landscaping, gardening, or a similar field.
Duties:
- Assist with the cultivation and maintenance of plants in a greenhouse or farm setting
- Perform heavy lifting tasks, such as moving plants, soil, and equipment
- Irrigate plants and monitor moisture levels
- Utilize hand tools for planting, pruning, and harvesting
- Collect data on plant growth and health
- Operate machinery and equipment as needed
Experience:
- Previous experience in a greenhouse, farm, or landscaping setting is preferred
- Knowledge of plant care and cultivation techniques
- Familiarity with hand tools used in gardening and landscaping
- Mechanical knowledge for operating equipment
