Plant Operations Manager oversees the daily operational activities of a plant or production facility. Develops and manages production schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality goals. Being a Plant Operations Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Additionally, Plant Operations Manager oversees staffing and development of all production supervisors and staff and facilitates labor relations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Plant Operations Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Duties
The
Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the Acetylene Plant from
production and distribution to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Work
every day in a way that actively supports and accomplishes the Values, Mission,
and Vision of Western International Gas & Cylinders, Inc.
Responsibilities
Develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity
Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
Ability to manage safety programs that help ensure the protection of employees and public. Recognize, correct and/or report unsafe conditions
Understand and follow established product quality procedures and guidelines to insure customers are receiving expected quality and purity of product
Recognize that each task can be amended and refined for the betterment of the employee and/or company and work toward that improvement
Provide training and educational materials to staff as necessary
Achieve a level of knowledge to assure obtaining the highest level of productivity and quality
Understanding of Human Resources principles of hiring, reviewing, terminating, promoting, directing, supervising, and motivating plant personnel
Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
Repair or replace plant equipment as needed
Qualifications

Prior background with maintenance a plus
Mechanical aptitude with problem solving skills
Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Computer literacy
Must be able to roll or lift 75 lbs. cylinders.
Able to stand for extended periods of time
Able to work extended shifts and/or weekends
