Job Summary:
PIC Group has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Plant Manager who will oversee, manage, and direct the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities of a manufacturing facility located in central Indiana. The Plant Manager reports to the regionally located General Manager and is responsible for the proper function and overall plant performance of the utility and energy assets of this 3.1M square foot facility. The Plant Manager will have full responsibility for the safe and efficient operations of this union represented site and the employees, be adept at handling multiple projects at once, and a proven self-directed professional.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that the Company-owned utility assets are operated in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner while satisfying the utility and energy requirements necessary.
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of all plant personnel, including an hourly, unionized workforce consisting of 4 Operating Engineers, 3 Wastewater Operators and 4 Skilled Tradespersons.
- Understand and adhere to all commercial and contractual obligations.
- Act as the onsite liaison between the Company and the Customer.
- Develop and manage the annual O&M budget as well as cost-savings measures, to ensure all financial goals are met.
- Manage site purchasing and inventory control processes.
- Manage employee time entry and work schedules.
- Develop and oversee continuous improvement activities.
- Prepare and issue weekly and monthly reports in a timely, consistent manner.
- Oversee the development and implementation of all Onsite Energy Business Unit initiatives and best practices.
- Develop and maintain a close working relationship with key customer personnel.
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to understand and administer complex commercial agreements related to delivering reliable energy services to the Customer on a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week basis.
- An understanding of the operation and maintenance of plant equipment, including the importance of ensuring high availability, reliability, and efficiency
- Working knowledge of powerhouse equipment and systems, including but not limited to Air Compressors, Boilers, Wastewater Treatment Systems, Roof Top AHU’s, Electrical Distribution, Heat Exchangers, Cooling Towers, Transformers, Pumps, Motors, Piping/Valves, Instrumentation, etc.
- An understanding of energy efficiency practices and energy conservation techniques
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to develop and manage operating and maintenance budgets.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Capable of working alone or as part of a team without a significant level of supervision
- Ability to balance time and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Capable of promoting and maintaining strong, positive relationships with coworkers, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and customers
- Willingness to share expertise and knowledge with other team members for the benefit of the entire Onsite Energy Business Unit
Physical Requirements:
- Duties require walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to use protective equipment correctly (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gloves, vests, etc.).
Education / Experience:
- HS Diploma required.
- 15 years of utility systems and powerhouse infrastructure experience is required, particularly in the non-regulated energy market.
- 10 years management experience, preference given to union represented personnel management.
