Plant Manager directs a plant or production facility's overall operations. Sets and implements policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant Manager utilizes operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to achieve production goals. Develops and deploys manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant Manager develops and implements plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Collaborates with multi-functional plant teams, including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Leads or participates in labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant Manager manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Plant Manager typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • As a Plant Manager at Howmet Aerospace, you will have the opportunity to lead a plant to achieve manufacturing excellence. You will partner with the Leadership Team to translate business strategy into actions that drive business results for one of our Howmet Engines facilities. You will plan, direct and control activities of the operating plant to accomplish budgeted financial objectives and customer requirements. You will be responsible for planning and performance in Sales, Human Resources, Purchasing, Finance, Manufacturing, EH&S, Engineering and Quality. You will also be responsible for driving manufacturing excellence in support of short-term and long-range business objectives and strategies. An ideal opportunity for a leader who has a desire to progress into higher positions.

    Primary Responsibilities :

    • Ensure a culture is in place that puts the safety and welfare of our employees ahead of all other goals. EHS metrics need to be managed and linked to actions that will reduce risk in the workplace.
    • Directs and guides the tactical activities of the business unit including, but not limited to, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, financial, human resources, and operational aspects with the objective of maximizing growth and profitability.
    • Direct the development and maintenance of long-range operational forecasts regarding volume, market share, financial requirements, human resource needs, organizational plans, etc., and monitors the projected effects of these forecasts on business unit investment, revenues, and the “external gross profit.”
    • Reviews and directs the development of new market opportunities and requirements for existing products and new products, bringing these for approval to senior management at the appropriate time. Develops an awareness for the customer’s product and service needs and maintains or enhances customer relations.
    • Lead a multi-disciplined plant team in meeting monthly forecasts and all appropriate business metrics in a continuous improvement spirit. Provides clear leadership on issues related to asset management, such as inventory, accounts receivable, fixed assets, etc., to optimize asset utilization.
    • Implement quarter-over-quarter improvement strategies to increase efficiency, spend performance, quality, yield improvement, customer delivery, safety record and productivity.
    • Champion a clear channel of communication and coordination between functional counterparts in the business units – marketing, engineering, finance, manufacturing, operations, and quality and external to business unit, customer service, sales, sales administration, technical services, and distribution. Responsible for cross-functional coordination and specification of effective processes and standards for support departments.
    • Set a high standard for ethics and compliance, ensuring business processes adhere to our business conduct policies and procedures. Ensure that effective business unit systems, procedures and financial controls are established and maintained for the business unit’s operations.

    Essential Skills:

    • Strong financial acumen: Ability to understand a P&L and comprehend the ramifications of decisions from a financial perspective will be a major component of this position. Experience with larger capital projects, optimizing capital expenditures to sustain operations, drive EHS value and deliver growth products.
    • Customer Focus: The ability to lead tours and converse with customers at a high level will be a major component of the position.
    • Strong operations competence: Experience leading multiple plants and hands-on experience with TPM and ability to create a highly flexible manufacturing operation. Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes and working knowledge in all business activities.
    • Results driven: The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to deliver consistently outstanding operating and financial results.
    • People leadership: This leader will have built high performance and achievement-oriented teams that have delivered success.
    • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills including using skills with groups of employees, managers, customers, and general public.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
    • 10 years of experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment
    • 3 years of P&L management responsibility
    • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship not available for this position.
    • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an US Citizen, US Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
    • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
    • Previous experience in investment casting industry
    • Previous experience in aerospace industry
    • Previous experience in Tool and Die manufacturing
